The Best in the Dark Souls Series
Written by ItchyRichieI'm a long-time fan of Dark Souls, but was concerned for this one after Dark Souls 2 disappointed me since it was dumbed down from the original. However, Dark Souls 3 really came through.
The overall structure and level design is great, with the enemies well balanced and placed. The immesion is high in no small part thanks to the well thought out use of sound in the game.
Of course, the game is still difficult, but, importantly, it feels fair. If you rush, you will pay the price. If you're not patient and paying attention, you're gonna have a bad time. ( http://i62.tinypic.com/2vt47dc.jpg )
I have had some crashing issues, but not much. This has been taken into account in the score. Frame issues can occasionally occur when moving from zone to zone but it's rare and only lasts a short while.
The summoning times in multiplayer are rapid, i.e. lots of fun!
The game overall feels more polished than Dark Souls 2 which as i mentioned, was a bit of a misstep. ~I think this is in part thanks to the return of Hidetaka Miyazaki as director, and I attribute much of the flow and constraint down to his guidance.
All in all, this game is not easy. You're not going to enjoy it if that's what you're expecting, or if you're quick to anger. If you know what you're getting into because the previous Dark Souls games, then I think you are going to be pleased. I recommend this!
